Dr Stephen Covey in his best seller, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, identified one of the habits as “sharpen your saw”. I can’t do full justice, plus it took Dr. Covey a full chapter in the book to explain this, but in summary this means are you continually investing in yourself and GROWING ?
We all have skills and we all should have goals (especially if you are reading here !). How much time and money are you spending to IMPROVE yourself ? Those of you in business, you need to grow for your business to grow.
What are you reading??
What classes are you taking ??
Do you have a coach helping you grow, helping your computer skills, helping you achieve the next level at your job? Do you set aside time to help make YOU a better person ??
Are you committed to growth ??
Are you really committed or do you just talk about it ??
Do you have a budget each year for your improvement ?
Only you can answer these questions but…be honest with yourself.
Let’s take a quick look.
What have you done to improve YOU over the last 6 months ??
The last year ?
The last two years ??
What do you have planned for the next 6 months ??
Is it a priority or do you just squeeze it in when and if there is time ???
Sharpen the saw. If it is dull —-sharpened it now and maybe sharpen it twice.
If it is sharp–keep it sharp !!
Hi Dogg,
Well done! Always good to take a step back to see where you are and where you are headed.
Thanks Keith, it sure does help to have a plan and direction !! Helps on the courts too , doesn’t it !
